Testing
Technical Testing Capabilities
Our Network Operation Centre uses advanced optical and performance testing tools to achieve accurate fault detection, preventive maintenance, and superior network performance. These instruments validate fibre health, measure signal power, locate issues, and ensure dependable service across critical operations.
OPM
Optical Power Meter (OPM)
An Optical Power Meter measures the light level within a fibre-optic line, confirming that the signal is consistent, stable, and within the correct range.
OLS
Optical Light Source (OLS)
An Optical Light Source sends a controlled light signal through a fibre-optic cable. It’s paired with an OPM to test the quality and continuity of fibre links.
RFC2544
RFC2544 / EtherSAM
RFC2544 is a standardised test for network performance. It measures throughput, latency, and packet loss to ensure a network connection performs as expected.
OTDR
Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR)
An OTDR sends light pulses through a fibre and analyses the reflections. It helps locate faults such as breaks, bends, or weak points in fibre-optic cables.
BERT
Bit-Error-Rate Test (BERT)
A BERT checks how many data bits are received incorrectly compared with what was sent. It’s used to measure the quality and reliability of a communication link.
